آیا در دهه هفتاد میلادی و یا چند دهه پس از آن هرگز تصور می کردید که روزی دنیای به اصطلاح متمدن آنهم در قرن ۲۱ دچار چنین فجایعی شود. آیا این عجیب نیست که همه ما هر روز و هر لحظه شاهد کشتار کودکان و زنان و مردان بی گناه و ویرانی خانه و کاشانه آنها هستیم و هیچ کاری هم نمی کنیم؟
آیا این عجیب نیست که سازمان های بین المللی و رهبران کشورها و گروه‌های حقوق بشری و رهبران سازمان های مدنی و روسای ادیان و اقوام با مشاهده این تصاویر و گزارش هایی که دوربین های خبرنگاران و مردم عادی کوچه و بازار در هر لحظه به ثبت و گزارش آنها مشغولند و برای میلیاردها نفر ارسال می شود، کمترین اقدامی نمی کنند؟ و هیچ اتفاقی نمی افتد؟
آیا این عجیب نیست که در روز روشن سران کشورهای به اصطلاح متمدن برای ویرانی دیگر سرزمین ها و کشتار مردم بی گناه خط و نشان می کشند و زمان تعیین می کنند؟
زمانی پس از فروپاشی سوسیالیسم فیلسوف معروف آمریکایی فرانسیس فوکویاما مدعی شد که با فروپاشی سوسیالیسم به پایان تاریخ رسیده ایم، او عنوان کتاب خود را « پایان تاریخ و انسان واپسین» گذاشته و مدعی شد که دیگر بشر وارد دوران جدیدی شده است که آغاز بی پایان تمدن لیبرال دموکراسی است، دورانی که نهایتا قرار است به تحقق آزادی و عقلانیت ختم شود، و این وعده پایان تاریخی بود که او از تفسیر فلسفه تاریخ هگل توسط الکساندر کوژو دریافته بود ولی انگار نه فقط سوسیالیسم که لیبرال دموکراسی های موعود او هم یکی بعد از دیگری عمرشان به پایان رسیده و به فاشیسم رسیده اند و آنچه خلاف انتظار او تحقق نیافت، آزادی بود و تحقق عقلانیت هگلی و در عوض شاید به مفهوم واقعی کلمه بتوان گفت که این انسانیت است که به پایان رسیده است.
وقوع این همه جنایت در مقابل چشمان ما اگر نشان از مرگ انسانیت نیست؟ پس نشان از چیست؟
آیا این جنایات و فجایع نشانه های تحقق آزادی و عقلانیت تفسیر فلسفه هگل است؟ و یا بیان این حقیقت است که سرمایه و قدرت نهایتا وجدان بشر و عصاره حیات متفاوت او با دیگر موجودات در حیات وحش را که همان انسانیت او بود را نیز در پای سودآوری و حرص و آز گروهی اندک از دیو های انسان نما ذبح کرد. سرمایه و سودجویی بی اندازه نهایتا آزادی و عقلانیت را قربانی کرد. بی جهت نیست که برخلاف انتظار افلاطون که حکومت را از آن فلاسفه و عقلا می دانست این روزها در راس حکومت ها میلیاردرهای بی عقل به حکومت رسیده اند.
حضور بیلیونرهای بی عقل در راس حکومت ها شاید خود بهترین نشانه و نماد مرگ انسانیت در جوامع بشری است.

Butchering of Humanity
Did you ever imagine in the 1970s or even decades after that one day, the so-called civilized world, in the 21st century, would face such atrocities? Isn’t it surprising that every day, every moment, we witness the massacre of innocent children, women, and men, the destruction of their homes and livelihood, yet we do nothing to stop it?
Isn’t it astonishing that international organizations, world leaders, human rights groups, civil society leaders, and the heads of religions and ethnic groups, despite seeing these images and reports which has been captured and documented every moment by journalists’ cameras and ordinary people cellphones broadcasting to billions of people, take no meaningful action? And nothing has been changed?
Isn’t it strange that, in broad daylight, the leaders of so-called civilized nations openly set timelines and make threats to destroy other lands and kill innocent people?
After the collapse of socialism, the well-known American philosopher Francis Fukuyama claimed that we had reached the “end of history.” He titled his book The End of History and the Last Man, asserting that humanity had entered a new era—the beginning of an endless liberal democracy, a period that was supposed to ultimately lead to the realization of freedom and rationality. This was the “end of history” he derived from Alexandre Kojève’s interpretation of Hegel’s philosophy of history.
But it seems that not only has socialism come to an end, but the promised liberal democracies of Fukuyama have also reached their demise, one after another, descending into fascism. What did not come to pass, contrary to his expectations, was freedom or the realization of Hegelian rationality. Instead, perhaps we can truly say that it is humanity itself that has reached its end.
If witnessing all these crimes before our very eyes does not signify the death of humanity, then what does?
Are these atrocities and disasters signs of the fulfillment of Hegel’s philosophy of freedom and rationality? Or do they reveal a darker truth, that capital and power have ultimately sacrificed human conscience and the very essence of it that distinguishes humans from other creatures in the wild—our humanity—at the expence of profit and the greed of a few monstrous individuals? Unchecked capitalism and boundless profiteering have ultimately destroyed both freedom and rationality.
It is no coincidence that, contrary to Plato’s vision of a government ruled by philosophers and wise men, today, mindless billionaires have taken the reins of power.
Perhaps the presence of these senseless billionaires at the helm of governments is itself the clearest symbol of the death of humanity in modern societies.
